      Common FAQ for the Pay and Print System

 

        1)   What the SCT Printing system in Singapore Polytechnic can offer to Student?

 

              Student can approach to use our services in either at our Self Service Kiosk located

              within the campus or  approach our counter where our friendly operator will assist you

              in your printing need. Black & White and Color Laser Printing with both A4  and A3

              and A3 paper size are available.

 

     

 

 

        2)   What is our charges rate for Printing ?

 

              A4 Black and White print: S$0.04cts per page

  

              A3 Black and White print: S$0.08cts per page

 

              A4 Color print: S$0.50cts per page

 

              A3 Color print: S$1.00cts per page

        3)   Where can I find the Printing Service available within the campus?

 

              See Chart of  the location of the 16 Release Stations --Click

 

      

 

 

        4)   How do I reject my submitted print jobs?

 

                 You may choose to ignore the submitted print job as long as you have not release them

              from the printer or click the deleted button to cancel your job. All the print jobs do not

              release  will automatically be purged in 24 hrs.

                                                                                                                                                           

       

 

       

         5)  How secure is my print jobs ?

 

              Since all students will have a unique SPICE account, the SPICE account will be used

              to login at  the release station. The release station will only display  the print jobs sent by

              this SPICE Account.

 

       

     

       

         6)  Who is able to use this Printing system?

 

              All users with SPICE account. For Notebook users, their Notebook must join to D domain

              and pre-configure with the correct print queue.

7)           7)  How do I use the Printing Service if I do not have a Notebook join to SD domain?

 

 

              For other SPICE users who do not use the Notebooks join to SD domain under the

              student notebook program, they may save their Documents in external storage device

              and approach the below location where you can plug in your thumbdrive into our PCs . 

             

              Our PCs only support  PDF / Words /PowerPoint & excels file format to view

              and PRINT ONLY and NO EDITING is available at this station.

 

        

 

8)           8)  How to install the Printing system to the Notebook?

 

               For Notebook (which has joined to SD domain under the student notebook program),

 

               please follows the 1-time set up procedure

 

               1)  Go to start button, select the " RUN"

 

               2)  Type in "\\ssdps640\" then click ok

 

               3)  If prompted to input user ID and password, key in "sd\Pxxxxxxx" (your spice ID)

 

               4)  The following print queue will appear

 

               5)  Select all the above print queues then click the right mouse button and

                    select "Connect"

 

              6)   Next go to the Start button and click on the Printer and Faxes, you will be

                    able to see the printer queue.

 

              * Now he print queues is ready to accept print job *

            9)  How do I collect my Print Jobs?

 

                1) Go to the PRINT RELEASE STATION at any of the photocopy/printing locations

                2) Select the type of Payment “ezlink” or “Cash Card”  first before you Login in with your

                    SPICE ID account at the Log in Screen                                       

                3) At the next screen, select your print job and click on "Print" & logout

                4) Collect your print job at the printer

 

 

             * REMEMBER TO REMOVE YOUR CARD BEFORE LEAVING THE COUNTER *

 

        

             10)  Do I need to logon to SD domain to use the Printing system?

                     Yes, only SD domain user using the wired/wireless network can use this  service.

 

             11)  How long will my print jobs stay in the  Printing system  before it gets deleted?

                      

                 All print jobs will be held at the print server for a period of 24 hours, after that the

                 system will automatically delete the print jobs

 

      

             12)  Are we allowed to use our own paper, color paper or transparency?

                      No, you should only use the paper or transparency supplied by us to avoid damaging

                  printer. Approach the shop operator for help.

             13)   How do I set to print on Both Side? (Printer by default is printing Single Side)

          15)   Why I print on color page but collect the print job at color printer became black

                  & white page?

                 

                      Possible you select the "Grayscale" , therefore the print job would become black

                  & white. To be safer, you must preview and check your job before print. It is because

                  some of the format is different from the internet to your  PC.  The picture of background

                  some other function you may need to adjust before you print, otherwise the print job

                  would not be able show  the picture as you wish.

                  We would not held the responsible of this mistake.

            16)  What is the important part you I should do before print?

                     

                      Go to print preview before you send your job.  Once you done all the selection

                   that you wanted,  you have to go print preview to see the job if all the documents

                   or pictures can be shown out. 

      

            17)  Why I could not see my job when I log in to the release station?

                  

                   There are few possible if you could not see your job after sending to the

                   release station.

                   (a)  You might be key in the wrong user ID, 

                         Such as  forgot to add "P" in front of your student ID number.

                   (b)  The file you sent did  not re-adjust properly according to the format

                         from different version of the same program.

                   (c)  You may be send the "0" File .

                   (d)  The file you send is too big MB, If possible, you may can resize it.
